Boostline Connecting Rods Guide: Patented 3-Pocket Design & ARP Fasteners

Building a high-boost forced-induction engine requires components capable of surviving immense cylinder pressure. Pushing stock or entry-level forged rods past their mechanical limits typically results in lateral beam buckling, sending a bent rod straight through the side of your engine block.

Engineered in the USA by Wiseco, Boostline Connecting Rods were developed specifically to address the extreme demands of turbocharged and supercharged builds making 800hp to 1,000hp+.

The Innovation: What Is the Patented 3-Pocket Design?

Traditional engine builds forced engine builders to make a compromise:

  • H-Beam Rods: Lightweight with great compressive strength, but prone to lateral bending/flexing under high boost pressures.
  • I-Beam Rods: Exceptional bending resistance for high RPM, but heavier, placing higher inertial loads on the crankshaft.

Boostline eliminated this compromise by patenting a 3-Pocket Design. Machined from premium 4340 vacuum-degassed forged steel, Boostline rods utilize three distinct machined pockets along the beam. This unique geometry creates an internal structural truss system that delivers 60% more bending stiffness than a conventional H-beam rod without adding unnecessary rotational weight.

ARP Fasteners: ARP 2000 vs. Custom Age 625+

Every set of Boostline rods arrives equipped with premium ARP rod bolts. Because rod bolts are subject to intense stretch forces at high RPM, selecting the correct fastener spec is critical to maintaining big-end bore roundness.

ARP 2000 Fasteners (~220,000psi Tensile Strength): Made from high-grade alloy steel, ARP 2000 bolts are the industry standard for high-performance builds. They provide exceptional clamping force and fatigue resistance for engines producing up to 800-1,000bhp.

ARP Custom Age 625+ Fasteners (260,000 - 280,000psi Tensile Strength): Crafted from an aerospace-grade nickel-cobalt super-alloy, Custom Age 625+ bolts represent the pinnacle of fastener technology. They resist stretch under extreme cylinder pressures and high-RPM inertia, providing maximum cap retention for builds pushing well past 1,000hp or running extreme boost levels (35psi+)

Built for Engine Builders: Quality Control

Boostline rods arrive out of the box ready for assembly. Every single rod set undergoes rigorous quality checks:

  • Inspected via CMM: Dimensional tolerances on big-end and small-end bores are held to within +/- 0.0002 inches.
  • Weight-Matched Sets: Balanced to within +/- 1 gram per end for smooth engine balance at high RPM.
  • Wrist Pin Lubrication: Features machined forced-pin oilers to feed engine oil directly to the gudgeon pin, preventing wrist-pin galling under continuous high-load track use.
