Porsche fanatics couldn't believe it when the 718 generation Boxster and Cayman launched without a flat six engine option, however in 2020 Porsche gave in to demands and fitted the 718 GTS with the 4.0 N/A engine also found in the Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder, albeit detuned slightly.

Whilst not massively more powerful than the 2.5 Turbocharged flat 4 in the early 718 GTS (and slightly less torquey), the 4.0 GTS features a much tastier exhaust note, plus lets face it maybe the last opportunity for a 4.0 N/A sports car to be allowed to exist thanks to ever tightening regulations.
