Founded in 1946 Honda Motor Company is one of the most famous Japanese brands for both Automobiles and Motorcycles. In 1991 Honda decided to take on the supercar world with the now infamous NSX, this then spawned a more track focused model in 1992 dubbed 'Type R'. The Type R name-tag would appear again in 1995 on the Integra DC2 and 1997 on the Civic EK9 making the now legendary Type R model designation a more affordable proposition.
The Type R model had always been associated with Honda's innovative VTEC technology. This all changed in 2015 with the launch of the 9th generation Civic FK2 Type R where for the first time, a Type R went turbocharged (whilst still retaining VTEC). This change has cemented the Civic Type R being considered amongst hot hatch royalty and Honda's first attempt at a turbocharged engine was that good, it's barely changed almost a decade later.
