Alpine to Launch Hybrid V6 Supercar in 2028 with Over 1000bhp

Alpine will introduce a new supercar in 2028, featuring a turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain delivering in excess of 1000bhp, according to the head of Renault Group’s premium performance brand.

The vehicle draws influence from the Alpenglow concept, which previewed a V6 engine. However, the production model will incorporate twin electric motors on the front axle, resulting in an all-wheel-drive configuration and a significant increase in total output.

While Alpine had previously outlined a shift towards an all-electric line-up—marked by the imminent end of A110 production—the brand has reaffirmed the role of internal combustion in its future. The upcoming supercar will retain a petrol engine at its core, supported by hybrid technology. The company has also not ruled out further hybrid models.

Development of the supercar will take place at the Renault Group’s Hypertech Alpine R&D division, based at the Viry-Châtillon facility—also home to the company’s Formula 1 powertrain operations. The car’s target weight is under 1600kg.

Alpine CEO Philippe Krief, who played a role in the development of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale during his time at Maranello, sees that model as a reference point. However, the Alpine’s architecture is expected to more closely resemble the Lamborghini Revuelto, which uses a similar twin-motor front-axle setup developed by Yasa, a UK-based firm.

The electric motors are being engineered to achieve exceptionally high power density, enabling the combined system to exceed the 1000bhp mark. The front-mounted twin motors will also provide precise torque vectoring for improved handling dynamics.

The new model is expected to cost upwards of €200,000 (approximately £168,000), positioning it as a low-volume, high-performance offering. “If we’re able to sell a €155,000 Renault 5 Turbo, then there’s space for Alpine to go above that,” said Krief.
