BMW's latest track-focused machine, the M2 Racing, is turning heads—not just for its performance but for what's under the bonnet. Departing from the traditional straight-six, this variant houses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, delivering 313 horsepower.

Unveiled at the DTM season opener, the M2 Racing is BMW's new offering for private customer teams, set to be available from June. Priced from €98,000 (excluding taxes) in the EU, it's positioned as an accessible entry point into motorsport.
Frank van Meel, head of BMW M, describes the M2 Racing as redefining the entry-level segment, offering affordability without compromising on performance or durability. Built at BMW's San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico, the car comes equipped with an FIA-compliant roll cage and a chassis prepped with motorsport-specific components. Key features include KW dampers, adjustable anti-roll bars, upgraded brakes, and 18-inch matte black forged wheels. The M2 Racing also sports a carbon-fibre roof, a new front splitter, and Makrolon rear side windows with an integrated tank filler neck. Inside, drivers will find motorsport-specific drive modes tailored for the track.
While it may lack the raw power of its six-cylinder siblings, the M2 Racing's lighter engine and focused setup aim to deliver a pure, engaging driving experience for those looking to make their mark in motorsport.
