Fresh face GR Yaris debuts at Tokyo Autosalon

The automotive world is buzzing with excitement as Toyota recently announced the facelift update for the highly anticipated GR Yaris. This little pocket rocket has already gained a cult following since its initial release, and the new updates are set to take it to the next level.

One of the most notable changes in the GR Yaris facelift is the redesigned front end. Splitting a once “one piece” bumper into a three-piece, gives customers extra peace of mind should they have a bump on the front. The air intakes are also slightly larger to allow for extra cooling.

Under the bonnet, the GR Yaris continues to impress with an increase in performance to 276bhp (‘90s Japanese gentlemen agreement anyone?) The big change that EVERYBODY is speaking about is the availability of an eight-speed automatic gearbox option, designed for lightning fast shifts.

In addition to the performance upgrades, Toyota has also made some enhancements to the interior of the GR Yaris. The cabin now features a redesigned infotainment system, removing the fairly slapdash infotainment unit in the outgoing model and photos hint at the availability of some quality of life improvements such as heated seats and a heated steering wheel, alongside an up-to-date digital dash.

Overall we think the facelift update for the GR Yaris takes an already impressive car and elevates it to new heights. With its striking design, powerful performance, and advanced features, the GR Yaris is sure to continue capturing the hearts of car enthusiasts around the world. Whether you're a fan of rally-inspired sports cars or simply appreciate a thrilling driving experience, the GR Yaris is a car that demands attention.

What do you think of the updates? Should the GR Yaris remain exclusively manual? Do you prefer the outgoing model, or the new facelift?
